What is LGBT History Month?
LGBT History Month was created in order to highlight lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history. In 1994, a group of U.S. education organizations designated October as LGBT History Month, leading to a 1995 resolution passed by the General Assembly of the National Education Association to include LGBT History Month on a list of its commemorative months.
At BCTC Libraries, we celebrate this month in recognition of the diversity and inclusiveness it represents. Stop by and see our LGBT History Displays at the library and learning commons during the month of October.
